Jack Cope (Minchinhampton), an England Boy International of just 17 years old, is the new Gloucestershire County Champion.
Jack, runner-up last year, went one better this year returning a superb four round total of 274, 14 under par, to leave many top class players trailing in his wake.
Leading by five at the halfway stage, Jack returned a four under par 68 to extend his lead over Jake Phillips (Cotswold Hills) still further, and followed it up with a one under par 71 in the final round to take the title.
In 2nd place on 280, eight under par, was defending champion Nick Day (Henbury), who showed his class with two rounds of 69 on the second day to push Jake down into 3rd place on 283.
Next in was Alex Ireland (Brickhampton Court) who followed up his impressive form on day one with two level par rounds of 72 for a four round total of 285.
The two remaining four round prizes were taken by two former champions; Laurie Potter (Cotswold Hills) in 5th on 288, and Tom Workman (The Players Club) in 6th on 291.
As always, we were indebted to the host club for preparing a course that was in such fantastic condition, and to the hard work of everybody involved in putting on a championship of this nature.
