Seb Pender (Minchinhampton) is the new County Under 16 Champion.
Seb shot a gross 76 at Filton Golf Club, to take the title by one shot from David Miles (Knowle) and Kobe Wesson (The Kendleshire). Will Lewis (Long Ashton) finished 4th, two shots further back on 79.
Seb was well prepared for the event having played a practice round at Filton the previous day in the company of his County Coach Paul Mitchell, and his effort was rewarded with a round that was the model of consistency. Two halves of three over par thirty eight, each half being made up of six pars and three bogeys.
The top four places were all filled by players who were also eligible for the Under 15 event, so the prize winners there were exactly the same.
In the Under 14 event, Louis Ross (Long Ashton) picked up the top prize with a gross score of 81, his best ever in a GGU Ranking event. Louis finished four shots ahead of Toby Janes (The Kendleshire) on 85, who was a further two shots ahead of Harry Griffiths (Ross-on-Wye) on 87.
Winner of the Under 16 and Under 15 Nett prize was Oli Jenkins (The Players Club) with a superb nett 66 off of 17 handicap, whilst Daniel Berry (Minchinhampton) took the Under 14 prize with a nett 69 off 24.
As always, our thanks go the the host club Filton for providing us with the opportunity to play an event which forms such an important part in the journey that our youngest players make to the top of the County game.
