13 May - Under 16 Championship

Kobe Wesson (The Kendleshire) is the new County Under 16 Champion.

Kobe returned a superb score of 71 at Stinchcombe Hill to take the title by two shots from Louis Ross (Long Ashton) and Oli Jenkins (The Players Club).

Despite an impressive birdie two at the long par 3 4th hole, Kobe found it tough on the front nine, reaching the turn in five over par.

He responded fantastically though, playing the back nine in two under with seven pars to go alongside birdies at the 16th and 18th holes.

Kobe, runner up last year, was making his fifth appearance in this event, his first coming back in 2014 at Gloucester Golf Club as a 12 year old. He has improved his finishing position every year since, and this win comes as a great reward for all of the passion and work that he puts into his game.

Louis's performance was equally as impressive, his 73 being enough to take both the Under 15 and Under 14 trophies.

Winner of the Under 14 trophy in 2017, Louis turned on the style again this year, getting off to a great start with a birdie at the 1st hole.

Like Kobe though, Louis found the front nine the more difficult of the two, and having dropped five shots to the turn, a double bogey at the 10th left him with much work to do. He was up to the challenge though, playing the remaining holes in one under par, the highlight being a wonderful birdie three at the 438 yard, par 4 13th hole.

in the nett competition, Lewis Stalley (aged 14 from Brickhampton Court) was the outstanding performer, returning a nett score of 59; a gross 76 playing off 17....wow!

Overall, thirteen players shot their best ever score in a County Ranking event; a wonderful achievement for them all to be proud of.

As always, our thanks go to the host club for looking after us so well. Stinchcombe has been a great supporter of County Golf for as long as we can remember, and it was very fitting that home member Peter French, our Past President and Junior Representative, was there to present the prizes to the next generation of County players.
