Joss Edwards (Cotswold Hills) is the new County Under 18 Champion.
Joss recorded two tremendous scores of 74 and 71 for a one over par total of 145 to take the title from club mate Harrison Ottley-Woodd (71, 77) by three shots.
After a steady round in the morning that included three birdies, three bogeys and a single double bogey at the par four 3rd hole, Josh started his 2nd round in similar fashion, recording seven pars and one birdie over the first eight holes.
There was a setback at the 9th though, where a double bogey would have unsettled many players, but not Joss, who responded as champions do by recording a further four birdies on the back nine to take the title in impressive fashion.
Following his 71 in the morning, Harrison maintained his form and went into the back nine in a strong position, but a difficult run in the middle of the back nine took the title away from him....despite that Harrison showed his fighting spirit with two excellent birdies over the last two holes......a big win must surely be just around the corner for him.
The other main prizes on the day were taken by Nathan Moore (Long Ashton) who retained the Under 17 title with rounds of 79 and 73. just pipping Seb Pender (Minchinhampton), winner of the Under 16 Championship in May, with the better 2nd round score; Seb shot 78, 74 to miss out by just one shot.
The best nett prize was won by Oli Jenkins with scores of 70 and 66 playing off of a 12 handicap. Oli has been improving consistently throughout the season, and this win is richly deserved. Oli took the best nett prize from twelve year old Jamie Berry (Minchinhampton) who returned two excellent scores of 69 and 72 playing off of an eighteen handicap.
As always, our thanks go to everybody who was involved in putting on such a tremendous event. Both the Forest Hills club and our own Championship Committee....well done all.
