Our Coaching Structure

The provision of coaching support for players across the County is broadly divided into age related squads. This is particularly true in relation to the younger age groups where squads are further sub-divided on a North/South basis so that coaching can be provided in smaller groups.

County Coaching Squads are selected at the end of each playing season, and from 2012 onwards the Gold, U18, U16 & U14 squads will be managed by a formally appointed Squad Manager and Squad Performance Coach.

Coaching Squad Structure

The Squad Manager and Squad Performance Coach are responsible for delivering all activites for the players in each squad, and are required to take the individual needs of each player into account in delivering the programme.

In a change from previous seasons, contact between coaches and players will not only be during the winter period, but also throughout the playing season.

Coaching Approach

Whilst the content of the Coaching Programme in each squad is decided upon by the Squad Manager and Squad Performance Coach, the broad approach applied is as illustrated below.

Players in every squad are treated as individuals, each of whom may have differing needs. Their performance and commitment over time are monitored by the Squad Performance Coach, and every player selected is given ample opportunity to develop their skills, provided that they commit to the programme as required.
